A PROGRESSIVE APPROACH TO GETTING FIT & LEAN

Across the world, service members maintain their physical readiness and low body fat percentages through sound health and fitness habits which are in accordance with the latest accepted medical- and scientific-approved practices. The Flab-to-Fit program is designed using the techniques that have made the U.S. Armed Forces one of the fittest populations, male and female, on this planet.

Using a variety of physical fitness activities, this program is designed to progressively physically condition individuals with a starting performance level of those living a sedentary lifestyle and an end state of a significantly improved level of fitness in conjunction with the accomplishment of optimal body composition.
This program is 12 months in duration. The program’s intensity will progressively get harder, starting at approximately 10% intensity of the ending efforts. There will be a relative balance between physical fitness components to make it well-rounded as well as adding variety to reduce boredom. Being persistent and following the program regularly (daily) is the key to being successful. This includes resting and recovering when noted.

UNIVERSAL ATHLETIC POSITION

The Universal Athletic Position is also known as the Universal Athletic Stance and the Guard Position.

Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width apart and body weight balanced on both feet, which are flat on the ground. Lean forward while keeping your feet flat on the ground. Balance is maintained in this position by having the hips behind and the shoulders forward of the center of gravity.

From this position, you can conduct a large variety of athletic movements or tasks. The universal athletic position can be found in most sports and assist athletes in obtaining a solid work platform to generate power and quickness.

For all who participate in sports such as baseball, basketball, football, softball, tennis and volleyball I recommend performing drills and exercises from this position which will improve your functional ability to quickly and powerful perform movements while engaging in your chosen sport.

CORE STABILITY & CARDIO TRAINING SESSION

This training session included a calisthenics period followed by a three mile run. The calisthenics period emphasized core exercises.
Core stability is the ability to control the position and movement of the central portion of the body. The core serves as the body's movement and power regulator. An increase in core stability can help maximize one's balance and athletic performance. Additionally, well conditioned core muscles help improve posture and reduce the risk of injury.
